What is a Retina Specialist?
Dr. Michael Colucciello , is a retina-vitreous specialist in private
practice. He performs consultations and renders treatment for medical and
surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous. He specializes in the areas
of diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal
vascular disease, ocular inflammatory disease, laser surgery of the
retina, intra-vitreal injections for wet macular degeneration, and surgical
treatment of complex retinal detachment, macular hole (and other macular
surgical diseases), diabetic retinopathy, and vitreous hemorrhage.

Dr. Colucciello is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honors' society, graduating Summa Cum Laude from SUNY-Albany in 1982. He attended medical school at SUNY-Syracuse where he earned the Dean's Letter of Commendation. He studied Ophthalmology for 3 years at Nassau County Medical Center in New York and devoted an additional 2 years to Retina and Vitreous sub-specialty fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania - Scheie Eye Institute. He has special interests in diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration.
